Biography
VILLAGE RASTA is an association created by Carlos de Nicaragua to produce and promote independant artists music and arts.
The majors divide and leave beside independant artists, marginalizing those who keep alive the alternative music that is Reggae.
EMOTION & REASON, a « loi 1901 » association created by Carlos de Nicaragua in 1998 produced, also in 1998, the first « VILLAGE RASTA » festival at « La Flèche d'Or », a 3 day manifestation during which the 2 organizers, Carlos de Nicaragua (Charles Wiltshire) and François Guyomard, invited reggae bands, sound systems, craftsmen, poets, painters, photographers, ital cooks to present their works to the public...
The first « VILLAGE RASTA» gathered more than 3 000 people during the 3 days ital party where Rasta presented the different aspects of rasta culture through live music, sound systems, nayabinghi, photography exhibitions, painting exhibitions, sale of arts and crafts, t-shirts, incense, posters, Cds and ital dishes.
The festival was proposed in 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001 at « La Flèche d'Or », and in 2002 at the « Cabaret Sauvage », conquering a public interested in music and RASTAFARI.
VILLAGE RASTA has ever since this day become one of the alternative manifestations for independent artists in France and gave its name to the association, replacing the EMOTION & REASON name.
In 2009, with the internet technology, VILLAGE RASTA is relaunching its associative activities for independent artists through the production and distribution of Carlos de Nicaragua y Familia's « MILITANTE » album.
VILLAGE RASTA is also sending a call to independent artists to set up a new festival.
